Persol PO0649 24/57 Review

The Persol PO649's or 649's as they are more commonly known were originally popularized by the late Steve McQueen. Yes, the 'King of Cool'. As well as wearing the folding Persol 714's he was also photographed wearing the 649's.

I recently purchased a pair of the Persol 649's as I was in need of a good pair of high quality sunglasses. I was looking at Oliver Peoples also but eventually decided on the Persol 649's due to a personal preference in design characteristics and feel, having tried on the Oliver Peoples previously. I purchased the PO0649 24/57, these have a Havana frame with brown polarized lenses (Lens size 52mm - plenty large enough for most face shapes). The Persol 649's were originally manufactured in 1957. These are the current re-issue of those same glasses.

Persol PO649's retail at approximately £240 however online they can be had between 170-200 from respected dealers. I had great difficulty finding a pair to try on before committing to buy these sunglasses and in the end, had to order them online with the reassurance of a free return should they not fit properly. It is worth noting that I am based in the UK and the place closest to me on the official stock-list was London which was inconvenient to get to at the time. I received my Persol's in the classic Persol grey textured box. Some fancy cardboard essentially, but it was certainly attractive. Contained was a small Luxottica catalog along with a brown Persol branded cleaning cloth and leather case containing the glasses themselves.

So far initial impressions were good and the presentation was pleasing. On to the glasses, which had cellophane sleeves on the arms to protect them in transit which was a nice touch. The glasses themselves were weighty when I first handled them, I put this down to the glass lenses as opposed to plastic seen in many popular sunglasses. They felt good in the hand and the hinges were heavy which gave the feeling of a solid construction.

Fit was questionable at first. I have a rather large head and whilst the frame of the lenses from the front fit my face well and complemented my structure the temple arms were too short. By this I mean they were curving before meeting my ear. To correct this problem I took them to my optometrist who used a hotbox to correct the acetate and bend the arms out to give a more skullfit to the sunglasses.

Upon further inspection of the details, it is hard not to feel special with the 'Hand Made in Italy' inscription on the inside of the right temple arm.

Overall the 649's have a beautiful feel that I, personally feel justifies the outlay upon purchasing, compared to other brands of sunglasses. They have a timeless style that complements many facial structures and appearances, making them a solid choice for functional, stand-out eyewear without being a statement.

I would feel more comfortable mentioning that I am in no way affiliated with Persol or Luxottica or any of their other affiliated companies and that this review is entirely independent and correlates directly to my personal experience.

ACQUA DI GIOIA PARFUME ON FRAGRANCEX

Hey Fashionistas,

Today Im writing about parfumes. Using a parfume is important so you have to choose it the right way. My choise is Acqua di Gioia ( Giorgio Armani) purchased on FRAGRANCEX .Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gioia Eau de Parfum is a charming sense of jubilation from the very first vegetal notes which are carried along in a deliciously heady current of crushed Mint, with a zest of Italian Limone Primo Fiore Femminelle, harvested from the first spring blossoms in Calabria. This emotion transforms into an aquatic renaissance with a delicate and crystalline nature derived from the scent of Water Jasmine, giving the perfume sophisticated and unexpected facets. At its base, Acqua di Gioia bears the signature of water rooted in the Earth, revealed by luscious Cedar sprinkled with sensuous Brown Sugar and Labdanum, which is one the rare plants to possess animal notes.
It was created by three perfumers: Loc Dong, Anne Flipo, and Dominique Ropion, and released in March 2010. Available in 30, 50, and 100ml in Eau de Parfum, it costs $39.50 to $80.

I like the bottle—the light, nearly transparent green liquid is cool to the eye, and the bottle feels like a big, smooth, cool rock in my hand. It comes in a simple blue box.

The scent, in a nutshell, I would say, is a subtle, casual fruity floral with sugary sweetness.
It starts off a citrus, but soft lemony scent. No sharp, cleaning-product like smell here, just a subtle and fresh, but soft lemon, very relaxed and comfortable to wear. Mint is listed as one of the notes, but my nose doesn’t detect any, which is okay—this smells just fine.
Jasmine Sambac is included in the heart or middle notes, and the smell of this flower is one that I’m very familiar with (it just happens to be my country’s national flower). It’s similar to jasmine, and has a sweet, but clean white floral scent. I think it gives that sweet, floral smell to Acqua di Gioia, and at the same time, there are also hints of aquatic notes, which make me think of the smell of water, or bodies of water. There are just hints of it though, it never dominates, and it seems to help make the fragrance fresh and keeps it from being way too sweet.
In the base notes, if you notice, there’s Brown Sugar accord, and it smells prominent to me. I already smell it earlier on as the fragrance develops, not just when the perfume dries down on my skin. My mom thinks it smells like coconut, and seems to dislike that, but I on the other hand really like gourmand scents—they’re comforting to me. I don’t smell coconut, but something like actual brown sugar, that’s not sticky sweet, but that’s sort of powdered down, lighter, and warm. I like it. The drydown on me is a snuggly type of scent, and is not cloying.
Initially I found Acqua di Gioia too sweet, but I’m starting to like it more and more. It’s a happy and simple, but good fragrance. Quite perfect for weekends or a little holiday. It’s uplifting and I would totally get it from my mom’s closet on a dreary, rainy day. If you generally dislike perfumes that tend to smell sweet, don’t steer clear of this, give it a chance using just a dab or one spray. I wouldn’t want you to miss out, like I almost did—it’s a happy little summer fragrance worth trying.

Red Rockstud Valentino Garavani Satchel

Since the beginning, Valentino was in-demand. Today, it's no different. Its stunning rockstud line consists of some of the hottest fashion items to own. Here's some modeling pics of the bag and my personal review of the bag. It arrived me from LUISAVIRAROMA ( my favorite brand luxury design) in wich I have purchased some great Famous Brand Products. This beautiful bag is mostly one large open space inside. There are three pockets on the sides, one of which is a zippered compartment. This arrangement is perfect for people like me. I'll use the zippered compartment for personal female stuff, one of the pockets for my cellphone, and the third for a lipstick and pen. Everything else goes right in the middle. It's personal preference, but multiple compartments make it harder for me to find my items. The only minor negative to note is that if you carry very little, the bag can lean a bit to one side.

The bag is held closed by a sturdy and convenient clasp at the top. The bag is of medium weight for its size.

What I truly adore about this bag other than its gorgeous design, is how it has both a handle and an optional shoulder strap! Handbags that are worn on the wrist are strongly trending; the handle style is somewhat more dressed-up than a shoulder strap design. Personally, while I admire the look of handbags, I really love the convenience of a good shoulder strap.

Christian Louboutin Nail Polish Review

If you can remember back to the 2012 Grammy Awards, Adele walked the red carpet with a manicure that matched her crystal-studded Louboutin shoes. Her manicurist, Mike Pocock, painted the tops of her talon-length nails a twinkling blue and the undersides of them a bold crimson, mimicking the brand’s iconic red soles. Well, on October 13, Christian Louboutin will launch a product you had no idea you needed: a nail-art pen created specifically for painting the underside of you nail, the Loubi Under Red Nail Color Pen.

It looks like all of the brand’s polishes, with a stiletto-shaped handle (that could definitely double as a dangerous weapon). But inside, in place of a polish brush is what looks exactly like a felt-tip liquid liner. The sponge applicator is what makes it easy to scribble the polish on the underside of your nail (minus the mess) or to draw straight, clean lines on top. Unfortunately, mastering the under-mani isn’t nearly as simple.

First off, you need long nails. Not sort-of-long nails—we’re talking talons so long you will won’t be able to type, text, or scratch your nose without causing injury to yourself and others. I only had one nail that I could test this product on, which is when I learned another important tip when using this: You must paint the tops of your fingernails with an opaque polish. Red polish under bare nails, or even a sheer nude, looks like your fingers are bleeding—a fact confirmed by many of my coworkers. Luckily for us, manicurist Madeline Poole created a few exclusive designs for Louboutin (shown above) using the Loubi Under pen that won’t scare away small children.
